The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year, internationally recognised qualification for students aged 16 to 19. Students study six subjects across six subject groups, plus three core components — Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service. The DP is graded on a 45-point scale and is accepted at universities worldwide.
Yes. The IB Diploma is recognised by leading South African universities including Stellenbosch University, the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand — as well as UP, Rhodes and others via the Matric Board exemption process. IB students must obtain a Matriculation Exemption Certificate from the SA Matriculation Board before applying. Apex can advise on this process. Internationally, the IB Diploma is accepted across the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, the UAE, Singapore, Europe and Africa.
