Yes. You choose the mode that suits your family. Online tutoring runs on Apex's own premium platform; in-person tutoring brings a tutor to your home, across all nine South African provinces.

Both. Apex offers personalised one-on-one tutoring online, delivered on our own premium video-conferencing platform, and in-person tutoring where a tutor comes to your home — available across all nine South African provinces.

Apex tutoring is one-on-one by default, so every session is fully personalised to the individual learner with no group distractions. Small group classes and intensive exam-preparation workshops are also available for some curricula.

Online sessions are typically 60 minutes, booked at least 24 hours in advance, and every online session is automatically recorded and shared with the student for revision. Tutors log in 15 minutes early so everything's ready for a smooth start.

CAPS — the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement — is South Africa's national curriculum. It forms part of the National Curriculum Statement Grades R–12 set by the Department of Basic Education, and Grade 12 leads to the National Senior Certificate (NSC) matric.

The IEB (Independent Examinations Board) is an independent South African assessment body, accredited by Umalusi to offer the NSC, used mainly by independent schools. It is not the same as the IB (International Baccalaureate), which is a separate international qualification.

According to the IEB, the NSC qualification and the IEB Further Studies Courses are "benchmarked by UK ENIC," and the NSC is "considered comparable to GCE Advanced Subsidiary (AS) level standard."

Cambridge International describes Cambridge IGCSE as "the world's most popular international qualification for 14 to 16 year olds," offered in over 70 subjects in any combination. "Leading universities and employers worldwide accept Cambridge IGCSE as evidence of academic ability."

Pearson Edexcel International GCSEs are aimed at learners aged 14 to 16, available in 37 subjects, and use the 9–1 grading scale. They are studied in over 80 countries, equivalent grade-for-grade to UK GCSEs, and accepted by universities globally.

The GED (General Educational Development) is a United States high-school-equivalency credential, earned by passing four subject tests: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.

A matriculation exemption (a Certificate of Exemption issued by the USAf Matriculation Board) lets a student who doesn't meet the standard minimum requirements register for bachelor's-degree study at a South African public university. The two main categories are complete exemption and conditional exemption.

Per USAf: a Complete exemption certificate (no expiry), and Conditional exemption certificates — including Mature age (for students 23+), Foreign conditional, Ordinary conditional, and Senate's discretionary (after a recognised Access course or Foundation programme).

Conditionally. The USAf Matriculation Board accepts a GED for exemption only when accompanied by a letter of admission from an accredited US university, or a qualifying SAT score (an overall SAT score of 1130 is required from May 2015). A GED on its own does not grant exemption.

No. A matriculation exemption is required for first bachelor-degree study. It is not required for a Higher Certificate (NQF level 5) or a Diploma (NQF level 6) at a tertiary institution.
